ULS Meeting/Field Trip Overview: 21 May 2005

Major Presentation:  Provided by Dr. Wayne Whaley at the USU Biology Building in Logan, Cache County, Utah.  Wayne reviewed his major paper on the Papilio indra complex in the Western U.S.   

After the meeting, the group headed up for the scheduled field trip up Leatham Hollow; which is located at the lefthand fork of Blacksmith Fork Canyon in order to find adults of the indra swallowtail (Papilio indra indraThose who attended found fresh adults (mostly males) of this butterfly.  The scenery was gorgeous!!  It's too bad more people couldn't have made it.

Those Attended:  Preston Hayes, Sherrie Hayes and family, Dale Nielson, Wilford Hansen, Todd Stout, and Wayne Whaley.

Preston Hayes nets a two-tailed swallowtail.  He would later net two males of the indra swallowtail--a first for Preston. Preston Hayes along with his parents and Wayne Whaley begin the hunt for the indra swallowtail.
