Major Presentation:  First Hour:  Vernon Evans:  Spreading Techniques.   Vernon discussed and reviewed three major mounting techniques including the traditional pin and secure technique, the magnetic board technique, as well as his own ventral-side-up versaboard technique.  Click here for a copy of Vernon's Presentation.    Second Hour:  Vernon Evans:  Hutchings Museum Presentation.  Vernon is donating 12 drawers of meticulously mounted insects to the museum.

COL Clyde Gillette watching Vernon's presentation.  Clyde recently returned from two eventful trips to Costa Rica and Peru.    Vernon discusses the advantages and disadvantages to pin spreading, magnet spreading, and his technique of spreading specimens upside-down on a Bioquip Versaboard. 
Utah Bug Club member Preston Hayes brought cocoons of sphinx and silk moths for show and tell. Four of the Hutchings Museum Displays that Vernon will donate.  (Click on image for larger picture.)
Preston Hayes shares a couple of moth cocoons during the refreshment break.  John Richards identifies them as a silk and a sphinx moth. Todd Stout conducted the meeting and provided announcements.
