Background
Considered one of the most knowledgeable in Utah butterfly taxonomy--especially for subspecies.
Joined the Utah Lepidopterists' Society in the early 1980's.
Has since done much of his collecting by raising immatures--either by getting live females to oviposit or collecting butterfly caterpillars in the field. But, is perfectly happy collecting butterflies on the wing as well.
One of the most agile hikers/lepidopterists in Utah. Practically able to run down Erebia magdalena on the wing amongst the talus boulders of Utah's High Uintas.
Worked with the Utah Museum of Natural History for the "Collector's Cabinet" Tribute.
